Delhi schools and colleges to reopen from November 1, says Deputy CM

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has promised to reopen all educational institutions and Chhath Puja celebrations in the city as of November 1, during strict protocols in Covid, Deputy Prime Minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday.

He said schools must ensure that lessons are held in a hybrid mode, which means that online lessons will continue.

“All private and public schools can be reopened from November 1. However, parents cannot be forced to send their wards to schools,” Sisodia told a news conference after the DDMA meeting.
According to the minister, more than 50 percent of the students in the class should be invited to the school and all staff should be vaccinated as soon as possible.
Sisodia said a limited number of people would be allowed to carry out Chhath Puja at pre-arranged locations across the capital.
“People are being asked to follow all of Covid’s protocols and wear masks … Covid’s situation in Delhi is under control, but he must be careful,” he said.
