WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging apps in India. A lot of people use this app to communicate with friends and family members. There are various features like video or voice call, media visibility, location sharing, and more. WhatsApp even has some privacy features and one of them lets you limit the visibility of your profile picture. The same is possible for Status, Read Receipts, and Last Seen too.

This is a great feature for privacy-conscious users. A lot of people get messages from unknown numbers on WhatsApp and are not comfortable with showing their personal information. So, WhatsApp offers an option to hide everything from unknown users. People can also choose to hide their details from contacts. There is also a third option that lets you hide everything from everyone, including contacts and unknown users.

Currently, there is no feature to hide profile pictures or any other info from select contacts. But, the messaging platform is expected to add it sometime this year as the feature has already been spotted in one of the Android beta updates. Last year, WaBetaInfo reported that WhatsApp was testing the “My Contacts Except” feature for profile pictures to let users filter out some contacts. While it is unknown when WhatsApp will release this feature, you can use the existing option to limit visibility to your profile picture.

WhatsApp: How to limit visibility of your profile picture

This may sound like a basic feature to many, but there are people who are not able to understand some of the settings. Here’s a look at how you can hide your profile photo.

Step 1: Just open WhatsApp on your Android smartphone and tap on the three-dotted icon, located on the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap again on Settings and then go to Account section > Privacy.

Step 3: In the Privacy section, you will notice a Profile photo option. Just tap on it and you will get three options, including Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. These are self-explanatory. The first one lets you hide profile picture from everyone, and the second is for your contacts.

Step 4: You can simply choose “My contacts” if you don’t want unlisted contacts to see your profile photo.
