Man seriously injured after shark attack in Northern California

A man who swam in Northern California was bitten by a shark Saturday morning and is now in a hospital in severe condition.

The man’s legs were bitten by a 6 to 2 foot great white shark near Gray Whale Cove State Beach, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office posted on Twitter.

Fortunately for the victim, he was able to swim to the beach.

After returning ashore, the 35-year-old man received “enhanced life support measures” before first responders took him to the trauma center.

According to the sheriff’s office, the beach is now closed to the public.
