Afghan students held a protest outside the Indian Embassy in Kabul over visas. These students, enrolled in various educational institutions in India, are awaiting visas to complete their studies.

Hundreds of students held a demonstration outside the Indian Embassy in Kabul seeking visas to complete their studies in India. Afghan students enrolled in Indian educational institutions still haven’t been able to return to resume their courses after Covid restrictions were lifted.

These students were offered scholarships by the Indian government but are awaiting visas to come to India. According to the Afghan embassy, more than 13,000 Afghan students are enrolled in Indian institutions.

However, the planned demonstration could not continue for long as Taliban fighters fired shots in the air to disperse the protesters.

Notably, India has still not accorded official diplomatic recognition to the Taliban government.
